Fox New Year’s musings

January 2, 2006

Alan Adams at Fox has a few resolutions and predictions; a couple of them Wing-related.

Chris Chelios: Quick, someone conduct a poll of who’s the greatest U.S.-born player ever. Chelios, that’s who, and he deserves to be recognized as best in the U.S. in 2006.

Iwo: Ok, we acknowledge your acknowledgment.  Mike Modano may have some input, but it’s hard to argue with that.

Steve Yzerman: Here’s hoping Yzerman realizes it’s time to move on and has a great retirement tour in March and April. And then he can move into a management job with the Detroit Red Wings.

Iwo: How original.  At least he’s not pulling a McKenzie or Wojo and asking for a mid-season retirement.

I laugh when I hear talk like that about Yzerman retiring early. Sure, he’s had injury trouble but he’ll get through it. I still remember his goal against the Devils last month and that was enough to tell me he’s still got “it.”

Hopefully he has one more playoff run in him.
