Don’t get me started

January 2, 2006

Kukla’s has a mention today regarding the NHL schedule…

Re-thinking The NHL Schedule
“The Eastern teams are loving it and some of the Western teams—not all—are questioning it. That’s something we’re going to have to look at when the season’s over and we look at the attendance figures and we look at the numbers.”- Gary Bettman on the NHL schedule, via the Edmonton Journal.
I sure hope something is done about this.  The Wings should be playing the original six teams at least one time in each city.  Not playing Toronto is a shame and I am sure the original teams feel the same way.

Iwo:  Exactly.  How the hell we don’t play Toronto is beyond me.  And Gary, while you’re at it, why not take a look at moving the Wings to the Eastern Conference where they belong?

I hate it too, but if Detroit or Nashville were moved to the Eastern Conference, then we’d have unbalanced conferences. So unless we went to a three-conference system, or switched back to the non-geographically specific divisions, there would be a problem.

Our continent is just too damn big. There’s no good solution.

You know, if there was one thing I wish the NHL would do to copy the NBA, I wish it would ensure that every team visits every bulding every season.
